The wafer type butterfly valve is generally installed horizontally. The wafer type butterfly valve is composed of only a few parts and characterized by simple structure, small size and light weight. Moreover, it can be quickly opened and closed by rotating 90°, and the operation is simple. In the meantime, the valve has good fluid control characteristics.

The wafer butterfly valves with metal seals generally have longer life than elastomeric seal valves, but it’s difficult for complete seal. Metal seals can accommodate higher operating temperatures, while elastomeric seals have temperature-limited defects.
If a butterfly valve is required for flow control, the main concerns are the correct size and type of valve. The structural principle of the butterfly valve is especially suitable for making large diameter valves. Butterfly valves are widely used not only in general industries such as petroleum, gas, chemical, and water treatment, but also in the cooling water system for thermal power plants. This type of valve should generally be installed horizontally in the pipeline.
Common butterfly valves include wafer type butterfly valves and flange type butterfly valves. The wafer butterfly valve is connected between the flanges of the two pipes by the stud bolts. The flange type butterfly valve represents a valve with the flange, and the flange on both ends of the valve are connected to the pipe flange by bolts.
